Facultative Malignant Ovarian Tumors (Tumors of Borderline Malignancy)

An Immunohistochemical, Cytophotometric, and Electron Microscopic Study

  • Conference paper

Abstract

Epithelial ovarian tumors of borderline malignancy (BOTs) have a significantly better prognosis compared to malignant ovarian tumors (MOTs), and the application of differentiated therapeutical regimes is possible. This emphasizes the importance of discrimination between the two tumor types. The histological differential diagnosis is sometimes difficult. Another consideration concerns the possibility of a continuous transformation from benign to borderline and finally to malignant ovarian tumors.
