Abstract

It was thallium-201 which allowed the application of myocardial scintigraphy in clinical practice [1, 12, 13]. On the one hand, it was expected to supplement coronary angiography as to the microcirculation. On the other hand it was hoped that myocardial scintigraphy could be used as a screening procedure to select patients for invasive investigations. As with all newly introduced methods, it is now important to show its limitations in addition to its usefullnes. These limitations must be known to avoid discrediting of the method due to incorrect indications and to allow critical interpretation of the results.
