Zusammenfassung
Die Prostaglandine sind bereits seit ihrer Entdeckung (1930) und Charakterisierung (1958) als wichtige Mediatoren des reproduktiven Systems erkannt worden (1, 4). Ob den Prostaglandinen auch eine physiologische Bedeutung für den Ablauf des mensuellen Zyklus der Frau zukommt, ist bislang nicht geklärt. Ebenfalls ist unbekannt, ob die typischen Menstruationsstörungen oder andere funktionelle Ursachen der Unfruchtbarkeit mit dem Prostaglandinstoffwechsel zusammenhängen.
