Zusammenfassung

Obwohl die Gründung der ersten psychologischen Klinik in das Jahr 1896 zurückreicht und die Klinische Psychologie in den westlichen Ländern mit Abstand die stärkste angewandte psychologische Disziplin geworden ist, blieb sie in Praxis und Forschung auf erstaunlich wenig Bereiche eingeengt. Bei Erwachsenen sind Diagnostik und Therapie im Rahmen der sog. “Kleinen Psychiatrie” und erst in jüngster Zeit bei Psychosen und psychosomatischen Krankheiten vorherrschend, während bei Kindern Leistungsprobleme und Verhaltensstörungen die wesentlichen Fragestellungen darstellen. In der Medizin hat die Klinische Psychologie in psychiatrischen und neurologischen Kliniken schon seit Jahrzehnten eine große Bedeutung erlangt. Nur zögernd hat sie in pädiatrischen und psychosomatischen Kliniken und noch viel zu selten in anderen Kliniksbereichen (z.B. Gynäkologie, Urologie, Innere Medizin), in Allgemeinkrankenhäusern und in Arztpraxen Fuß gefaßt.
