Psychologische Aspekte der intensivmedizinischen Betreuung

Zusammenfassung

Patienten auf Intensivstationen sind in der Regel Schwerkranke, bei denen akut vitale Funktionen wie Kreislauf, Atmung, Nierenfunktion u.a. ausgefallen sind oder auszufallen drohen (KUCHER & STEINBEREITHNER 1972, LAWIN 1975, BURRELL & BURRELL 1977). Nach den Aufwachräumen für operierte Patienten wurden auch in anderen medizinischen Disziplinen Intensivbehandlungs- und -überwachungsstationen eingerichtet, die mit einer aufwendigen apparativen und meist auch personellen Ausstattung versehen sind.
