Zusammenfassung
Obwohl die „Progressive Linsenkerndegeneration mit Leberzirrhose“ bereits 1912 von dem englischen Neurologen S. A. K. Wilson als klinische Einheit beschrieben worden war, wurde die wahre Natur des Leidens als autosomal rezessiv vererbte Kupferspeicherkrankheit erst zwischen 1948 und 1956 erkannt (Literatur bei Bickel et al. 1957; Bickel 1957, 1958). Auch heute noch sind viele Fragen zur Pathogenese der Wilsonschen Krankheit ungeklärt. Es ist jedoch erwiesen, daß der Enzymdefekt und die primäre Störung der Kupferbilanz in der Leberzelle lokalisiert sind (Bearn u. Kunkel 1952; Scheinberg u. Gitlin 1952; Bearn 1953; Denny-Brown 1953; Bickel 1955; Bickel et al. 1957).
