Abstract

More than one hundred years ago, Kundt was able to measure sound wavelengths by observing dust figures in resonance tubes [1], This method of measuring wavelength is described in every textbook of undergraduate physics but a valid explanation for the origin of the fine structure of the dust figures, as already seen by Kundt, seems hard to find.
