Abstract

To date, only very few behavioral field studies of tree shrews exist (Chorazyna and Kurup 1975, D’Souza 1974, Kawamichi and Kawamichi 1979). It seems to be very difficult to investigate the interactions and mechanisms of bonding of these squirrellike, very nimble, small mammals in a natural habitat. Considering these facts, it is advantageous to get a good idea of the behavioral repertoire of caged animals, first of all.
