Zusammenfassung

Es kann keinem Zweifel mehr unterliegen, daß vielen Unfällen ein „human factor“, eine vom Verletzten selbst hervorgebrachte Komponente der Verursachung, zugrunde liegt. In dem multifaktoriellen Bündel der Unfallursachen kann der Mensch selbst, der den Unfall erleidet, nicht außer Betracht bleiben. Er ist in der Tat zugleich Objekt und Subjekt im Unfallprozeß. Es wäre seltsam, wenn nicht dieser Tatsache eine allgemeine Gesetzmäßigkeit zugrunde läge, die sich wie folgt formulieren läßt: Ein Unfall ist in seiner Entstehung immer auch vom Verletzten abhängig. Diese Abhängigkeit von der psychophysischen Grundstruktur des Verletzten läßt es als wahrscheinlich erscheinen, daß die Phase, die zum Unfall führt, und die Phase, die ihm folgt, von gleichen seelischen Faktoren geprägt ist: der Unfall ist in Verursachung und Folge eine psychosomatische Einheit, ein einheitlicher „Prozeß“ (Hirschfeld u. Behan 1963, 1966; Weinstein 1968).
