Zusammenfassung
Pharmakokinetik ist die Auseinandersetzung des Organismus mit dem Pharmakon und bildet neben der Pharmakodynamik die Grundlage jeder rationalen Therapie. Sie beschäftigt sich mit den zahlreichen Vorgängen, welche die Substanz nach Applikation bis zu ihrem Eintreffen am Wirkort und während ihrer Elimination aus dem Organismus erfährt. Die zu ermittelnden pharmakokinetischen Kenngrößen sind Hilfsmittel. Es sind nicht die absoluten Werte klinisch relevant, sondern die Deutung dieser Größen im biologischen Zusammenhang.
