Zusammenfassung
Für die Wiederherstellung oder Erhaltung der lebenswichtigen Funktionen nach schweren Erkrankungen oder Traumen standen in den fünfziger und sechziger Jahren Kreislauf und Atmung ganz im Vordergrund der wissenschaftlichen und klinischen Bemühungen. Erst in den siebziger Jahren ist zunehmend das eigentliche zentrale Organ des menschlichen Lebens, das Gehirn, in den Mittelpunkt des Interesses gerückt.
