Abstract

Direct revascularization surgery utilizing bypass graft techniques is in its 13th Year and has become one of the most common forms of elective surgery performed in the USA. From a technical standpoint the concept of bypass graft surgery is basically simple. Many surgeons believe that cardioplegia, hypothermia, coronary artery perfusion, and intraaortic balloon assist are essential for this type of surgery — the author disagrees.
