Hemodynamic Interaction of Beta-Blockers and Nitrates in Coronary Heart Disease

Abstract

The therapeutic value of both nitrates and β-blockers in patients with angina pectoris is universally accepted. Whereas the individual modes of action of both these drugs have been extensively studied [4, 8–10], there is little information as to their hemodynamic effect when used in combination. Furthermore, in most of these studies the combined effect of these drugs was either evaluated by noninvasive methods [2, 5, 7, 11] or after intravenous application [1, 6].
