Leukoplakien der Mundschleimhaut

Zusammenfassung

Die Definition der Leukoplakie — Leukoplakien sind weiße, nicht abwischbare, keiner anderen definierten Krankheit zuzuordnende Schleimhautbezirke — ist rein klinisch-deskriptiv und beinhaltet daher keine Aussage über ihre Dignität [22]. Den meist exogenirritativen Leukoplakrien im engeren Sinne werden die symptomatischen oder endogen-irritativen Leukoplakien gegenübergestellt, bei denen die weiße Verfärbung der Schleimhaut Ausdruck einer definierten (Haut- und) Schleimhauterkrankung ist. Die Diagnose einer Leukoplakie im engeren Sinne läßt sich nur durch Ausschluß solcher definierten Schleimhauterkrankungen stellen. Die Kenntnis der verschiedenen mit symptomatischen Leukoplakien einhergehenden Krankheiten ist somit die Voraussetzung für jede Leukoplakiediagnostik [9, 11].
