Survival and Growth Requirements of Nontransformed Cells

  • Chapter
Tissue Growth Factors

Part of the book series: Handbook of Experimental Pharmacology ((HEP,volume 57))

Abstract

This chapter describes the environmental requirements for survival and growth of nontransformed cells and the development of assay systems for studying those requirements. As a starting point, it is useful to define as precisely as possible a number of terms that will be used repeatedly.
