Introduction to Cell Growth: Growth in Size and DNA Replication

  • Chapter
Tissue Growth Factors

Part of the book series: Handbook of Experimental Pharmacology ((HEP,volume 57))

Abstract

This book is devoted to growth factors, which can be defined as those hormones or hormone-like substances that regulate the growth of cells, either in the intact animal or in tissue cultures. Arbitrarily, the book has been restricted to growth factors of animal cells. I have no justification to offer for this decision except those logistic considerations that necessarily limit the size of a book, and force some decisions.
