Abstract
A description is given of the design, implementation and operating experience of a test bed for operating systems which permits very detailed observation and measurements. The hardware is simulated with the help of the Virtual Machine Emulator. By selecting processor and I/O device timing characteristics a wide range of /370 compatible systems can be simulated. A special trace facility allows tracing and activity measurements at any desired level of granularity. An artificial workload simulates the activity of a DB/DC System.
