Abstract

This paper deals with the development of systems assisting the operators in nuclear power plants in diagnosing disturbances. The systems described are process-computer-based and provide an efficient tool for on-line disturbance analysis. It is also discussed which measures from the plant may best be selected to yield a good quality of information conveyed to the operators by these systems. The selection criteria are also used as a basis of quantitative assessment of the improvement of operator diagnosis of plant disturbances. A layout of experiments to be carried out to obtain empirical data on operator capabilities of plant diagnosis, where plant simulators are used, are also described.
