Abstract
Dyspareunia, or pain during or after intercourse, is a common complaint in gynecologic practice. It is usually one of several symptoms in patients consulting for chronic pelvic pain, but nowadays dyspareunia is no longer an infrequent complaint, even if some patients will admit this important form of sexual dysfunction only after a detailed history. In light of the modern emphasis of individuals as well as of married people on sexual gratification and its unquestionable importance in fomenting and maintaining mutual understanding in marriage, this complaint should never be taken lightly.
