Zusammenfassung

Das prinzipielle und bisher weitgehend ungelöste Problem der Transplantation ist die Abstoßung. Sie wird ausgelöst durch die Auseinandersetzung des Immunsystems des Transplantatempfängers mit den fremden Transplantationsantigenen des übertragenen Organs, sofern dieses von einem vom Empfänger genetisch differenten Individuum stammt. Das Problem der immunologischen Abstoßung kann von zwei verschiedenen Seiten aus angegangen werden: Der Modifikation des Immunprozesses oder der Verminderung der Antigendifferenz zwischen Spender und Empfänger durch Histokompatibilitätstestung.
