Zusammenfassung

Bei Erkrankungen, deren Manifestation eine große Varianz zeigen und die erhebliche Quoten an Spontanremissionen aufweisen, gestatten nur kontrollierte Studien des Verlaufes eine Aussage über ihre Beeinflußbarkeit durch die Thera-pie. Über die Ursache oder die Bedeutung bestimmter pathogenetischer Prozesse bei der Rückfallsneigung der Colitis ulcerosa und des Morbus Crohn im Kolon ist nichts Sicheres bekannt. Manche Patienten bleiben über Jahre von alien Symptomen frei, während andere wiederholt Rückfälle erleiden, obgleich sich beide Populationen bezüglich Alter, Geschlecht und Ausdehnung der Erkran-kung nicht voneinander unterscheiden. Besonders durch die Arbeiten von Sloan et al. (1950), EDWARDS und TRUELOVE (1963), GOLIGHER et al. (1968) und FAHRLÄNDER und SHALEV (1974) stehen Einblicke über den Verlauf der Colitis ulcerosa zur Verfügung.
