Abstract

Neonatal and infant mortality is a measure of the quality of the pre-, peri-, and postnatal care of the fetus and newborn. Despite a high level of individual care to critically ill newborns, neonatal and infant mortality of the Federal Republic of Germany compares unfavorably to those of other European nations (Table 76).
