Abstract

The main aim of the surgical therapy of chronic (relapsing) pancreatitis (CRP) is to relieve pain. Since the pancreas is extensively affected by progressive fibrosis [3, 4, 28, 32] also involving the biliary system [19], complete anatomic and functional recovery is not possible [3, 17, 35].
