Abstract
In its essence, chronic pancreatitis is identical to acute pancreatitis. In chronic pancreatitis, the autodigestive destruction of the organ is the decisive feature of the pathogenic process. And yet, in common with the clinical symptomatology, the anatomic picture is also quite different from that seen in the acute form of the disease (Becker 1973).
