Abstract

The therapeutic program for acute pancreatitis has undergone substantial changes in the past few years. However, despite improvements in preoperative diagnostic procedures, no general agreement has been reached on this problem, and in particular the choice of a conservative of operative regimen and the timing and extent of surgery are still controversial.
