Zusammenfassung
Die Anwendung der Muskelrelaxanzien in der Intensivmedizin erfolgt im allgemeinen gestützt auf Erfahrungen, gesammelt im Operationssaal und in der Intensivpflegestation beim maschinell beatmeten Patienten. Es gibt jedoch bis heute keine kontrollierten Untersuchungen, welche die Indikationen und die therapeutischen Gewinne klar definiert und gezeigt haben. In den Monographien und Kapiteln über die künstliche Beatmung sind die Muskelrelaxanzien zwar erwähnt, ohne aber die Indikationen, Kontraindikationen und die Komplikationen zu präzisieren. Dies ist um so bedauerlicher, als die Intensivmediziner oft nur eine begrenzte Ausbildung in Anästhesie sowie nur theoretische und oberflächliche Kenntnisse in der Anwendung dieser Medikamente haben.
