Abstract

The empty sella turcica is defined as an intrasellar herniation of the suprasellar subarachnoid space resulting from an incomplete diaphragma sellae, with compression of the pituitary gland (Fig. 6.1) producing in many cases a gradual change in the radiologic appearance of the sella turcica.
