Zusammenfassung

Die endoskopische Untersuchung des Dickdarms wird von Kindern weitaus besser toleriert, als man von den Erfahrungen bei Erwachsenen her annehmen möchte. Bei guter Untersuchungstechnik und Wahl eines geeigneten Untersuchungsgerätes ist die Untersuchung häufig ohne jede Prämedikation möglich. Die Rekto-Sigmoideo-Koloskopie ist somit auch im Kindesalter keine den Patienten unzumutbar belastende Untersuchung. Endoskopische Untersuchungen des Dickdarms sollten daher prinzipiell ohne Narkose vorgenommen werden. Dünnkalibrige Geräte sind bei der Untersuchung des Dickdarmes im Gegensatz zur oberen Intestinoskopie wegen schlechterer Übersichtsverhältnisse und nicht zuletzt auch wegen der erhöhten Perforationsgefahr nicht primär vorzuziehen. Starre Geräte erlauben die Inspektion des Enddarmes bis zum Anfang des Sigma, flexible Fiberglasinstrumente dagegen können, je nach Länge und Untersuchungstechnik, die Inspektion des Kolon bis zum Coecum hin ermöglichen.
