Zusammenfassung

Die Bedeutung allgemeiner Maßnahmen für die Behandlung der Refluxkrankheit der Speiseröhre ist stets unbestritten gewesen. Daran wird sich nichts ändern, solange die Erfolge medikamentöser und chirurgischer Behandlung nicht so überzeugen, daß sie den Verzicht auf allgemeine Maßnahmen rechtfertigen. Andererseits liegt ein wissenschaftlich geführter Wirksamkeitsnachweis dieser Maßnahmen durch kontrollierte klinische Studien bislang nicht vor. Die empfohlenen Maßnahmen beruhen weitgehend auf klinischer Empirie und pathophysiologischen Vorstellungen; für therapeutische Ratschläge sind dies freilich keine sehr sicheren Grundlagen.
