Zusammenfassung
Immunität ist die Fähigkeit eines Organismus, lebende Erreger oder für den Körper pathogene Substanzen bei ihrem Eindringen durch einen lokal-oder allgemeinentzündlichen Prozeß abzuwehren. Diese Immunität ist eine individuelle Eigenschaft und es können vom gleichen Erreger bei verschiedenen Organismen unterschiedliche Abläufe in der Ausbreitung und in der Intensität der Entzündung beobachtet werden. Pathogene Substanzen können über die Haut, die Schleimhäute, aber auch intrauterin oder intra partum eine lokale oder eine allgemeine Reaktion des Organismus auslösen, die unmittelbar von der Pathogenität der Schadstoffe abhängig ist und von der Reaktionsbereitschaft des Wirtsorganismus limitiert wird. Dieser besitzt vielfältige Möglichkeiten der Abwehr: spezifische und unspezifische, angeborene und erworbene Eigenschaften, wobei der genetisch gesteuerten, spezifischen Abwehr i. allg. besondere Bedeutung beigemessen wird. Dennoch sind unspezifische Mechanismen, auch bei den Infektionskrankheiten wie sie die Tuberkulose darstellt, von nicht zu unterschätzender Bedeutung. Hierunter fallen zellgebundene Reaktionen, ferner die Abwehr mit Hilfe von humoralen Mediatoren, wie Lysozym, Interferon, Serotonin und andere. Auch die von der Mutter auf das Kind übertragenen Antikörper, also passiv erworbene spezifische Immunität, gehören zum Gesamtkomplex der angeborenen Immunität, so daß sich unter diesem Begriff sowohl unspezifische als auch spezifische Resistenzmechanismen zusammenfassen lassen.
