Der Einsatz automatischer Datenverarbeitungssysteme für die Informationsverarbeitung in Betrieben ist heute fast zu einer Selbstverständlichkeit geworden. Die maschinell gespeicherten Daten stehen dabei nicht nur für die im Routinebetrieb notwendigen Verarbeitungen zur Verfügung, sondern bilden darüber hinaus die Grundlage für Unternehmensentscheidungen, besonders für deren Unterstützung durch Verfahren der Statistik und der quantitativen Wirtschafts- und Unternehmensforschung.
