Zusammenfassung
In der Literatur scheint Einmütigkeit über die Tatsache zu bestehen, daß ein so komplexes Phänomen wie die industrielle Konzentration wohl kaum quantifiziert werden kann, wenn sich die Analyse nicht auf deren unmittelbar meßbare Elemente beschränkt. Das dürfte für wettbewerbstheoretische und -politische Überlegungen von entscheidender Bedeutung sein, wenn die traditionelle Kausalkette zwischen Marktstruktur, Marktverhalten und Marktergebnis zugrundegelegt wird: Konzentration repräsentiert darin den Grad, zu dem sich das Anfangsglied Marktstruktur Wettbewerbs- oder Monopolkonstellationen nähert, was sich in entsprechenden Marktverhalten und Marktergebnis niederschlagen wird.
