Intrinsic Iliocaval Pathology Thromboembolic Disease of the Iliac Veins and of the Inferior Vena Cava

  • Chapter
Venography of the Inferior Vena Cava and Its Branches

Abstract

Thromboembolic disease is most often localized in the veins of the lower limbs but may also involve the iliac-inferior caval segment. Iliofemoral and iliocaval thrombosis is serious for two reasons: it is the origin of severe local or regional phenomena that produce important delayed sequels, and it causes a large number of massive pulmonary embolisms.
