Abstract
Chemical affinity between leucite-bearing rocks and kimberlites has been pointed out by several workers (Holmes 1932; Wade and Prider 1940; Borley 1967; Cundari 1973). Some petrologists such as Holmes (1932), O’Hara (1965), O’Hara and Yoder (1967), and Yoder (1973) considered that these two groups of rocks are genetically related. Because of this, the chemistry of these two groups of rocks is compared below. Possible genetic connection between kimberlites and leucite-bearing rocks is discussed in the following section.
