In all the experimental groups weight gain in the pre-experimental days and weight loss during the 16-h fasting period (Tables 3 and 4, Fig. 2) paralleled. After the steep increase in body weight on the first day of refeeding the standard diet-fed control and altromin R plus glucose groups generally show the same kind of body weight changes. Expressing a clear summit following the first experimental day, body weight loss of the glucose 40%-animals is more pronounced compared with that of pair-fed controls. Animals in the latter group exhibit a merely plane peak after refeeding, presumably depending on the reduced diet, but lose relatively less weight on the following days (Table 4).
