Abstract
In 1975 we first demonstrated that TSH can be measured by radioimmunoassay using the eluate of dried blood spots on filter paper (Irie et al. 1975). Since then we started mass screening for congenital hypothyroidism by measuring mainly TSH and partly T4 from discs punched out of the dried blood samples taken on the 5th–7th day of life.
