Abstract
The reliability of a diagnosis based on biopsy specimens depends on many factors. Diagnostic problems result not only from difficulties in interpretation and grading of the histologic pattern but frequently also from the “inadequacy” of the material. Refined technique and mastery of a method are useless without attention to detail. We will discuss these apparently trivial problems with which the pathologist must deal every day.
