Zusammenfassung

Jede chemische Verbindung, die durch Pflanzen oder Tiere synthetisiert wird, kann durch irgendeinen Mikroorganismus abgebaut werden. Diese Fähigkeit hat dazu geführt, daß keine Anreicherung organischer Verbindungen erfolgt ist. Lediglich dann, wenn die äußeren Bedingungen zur Mikroorganismenentwicklung nicht gegeben waren, konnten sich organische Substanzen, wie z. B. Erdöl, anreichern, obwohl auch sie prinzipiell abbaubar sind (Literatur vgl. Dart und Stretton, 1977).
