Zusammenfassung

Höhere Pflanzen produzieren den größten Teil der Nahrungs- und Futtermittel und vieler anderer Produkte, die für die menschliche Existenz auf der Erde eine Grundlage bilden. Die Bedingungen zur Kultivierung höherer Pflanzen sind weitgehend abhängig von Klima, Standort, Schädlingsbefall u. v. a. Einflüssen. Die Kultivie rung isolierter Pflanzenzellen bietet gegenüber dem Anbau eine Reihe von wichtigen Vorteilen.
