Zusammenfassung

Dieses Kapitel schließt an Strömgrens umfassende Übersicht über psychiactrische Genetik 1939–1964 in der 1. Auflage dieses Buches an. Wie Strömgren schon damals betonte, kann es sich in Anbetracht der begrenzten Seitenzahl nicht um einen erschöpfenden Handbuchbeitrag handeln. Es wird vielmehr versucht, neue Befunde und neue Forschungsrichtungen in großen Zügen herauszuarbeiten. Dabei sind Kürze und Subjektivität der Darstellung unvermeidbar. Ältere Befunde und neue Details müssen bei Strömgren (1967 a), in Beckers Handbuch der Humangenetik, Bd. V/1 (Krankheiten des Nervensystems) und Bd. V/2 (Psychiatrische Krankheiten), in einer der zusammenfassenden Darstellungen aus dem angelsächsischen Sprachraum (Fieve et al., 1975; Mednick et al., 1974; Rosenthal, 1970; Slater u. Cowie, 1971; Sperber u. Jarvik, 1976), oder in den Originalarbeiten nachgelesen werden. Ausgeklammert bleiben genetische Befunde, die bereits andernorts in diesem Werk besprochen wurden, so die Genetik der Epilepsien (Bd. II/2, S. 691), der Oligophrenien und Genopathien (Bd. II/2, S. 799), und der psychiatrischen Erkrankungen des höheren Lebensalters (Bd. II/2, S. 1037).
