Zusammenfassung

Als eine der auslösenden Ursachen für das akute Lungenversagen wird das Endotoxin gramnegativer Bakterien angesehen (4, 5, 6). Es soll daher im folgenden eine Übersicht gegeben werden über die Natur und biologischen Wirkungen dieses Stoffes, über die heutigen Möglichkeiten zur raschen Entdeckung seiner Anwesenheit oder der seiner bakteriellen Trägerzellen im Organismus sowie die Feststellung von deren Resistenz gegen Chemotherapeutika und schließlich über prinzipielle Regeln für die Anwendung von Chemotherapeutika zur Verhütung des infektionsbedingten akuten Lungenversagens.
