Summary

Emmet’s Operation of the ingrown toenail was modified in such a way as to excise only the germinative nail matrix by a wedge-shaped excision by putting the broad base of the wedge into the depth of the excision. This small surgical operation is done in regional anaesthesia and anaemia in out-patients. Wound healing is completed within one week in most cases. Recurrences were not observed.

Zusammenfassung

Die Emmetsche Operation des Unguis incarnatus wurde so modifiziert, daß lediglich die germinative Nagelmatrix mit Hilfe einer Keilexzision verschmälert wird, wobei die Basis des Keils in der Tiefe liegt. Der kleine Eingriff wird in Leitungsanästhesie und Blutleere ambulant durchgeführt. Die Wundheilung ist in einer Woche meist schon abgeschlossen. Rezidive wurden nicht beobachtet.
