Zusammenfassung
Man kennt mindestens drei Typen pflanzlicher Tumoren, deren Entstehung unterschiedlich bedingt ist. Tumorbildung kann durch Bakterien, Viren oder genetische Faktoren ausgelöst werden. Pflanzliche Tumorzellen sind — wie die tierischen Tumorzellen (s. Kap. 51 und 64) — weniger anspruchsvoll als differenzierte Zellen und daraus abgeleitete Kalluskul-turen. Im Gegensatz zu normal differenzierten Zellen kommen sie ohne externe Auxinzufuhr aus, sie sind auxinautotroph. Doch Auxinautotrophie kann gelegentlich auch von normal differenzierten Zellen erworben werden, es entstehen dabei die sog. „habi-tuierten“ Zellen. Dieser Übergang ist epigenetisch bedingt, d.h. er erfolgt ohne Veränderung des Genoms der Zellen. Offensichtlich werden dabei die für die Auxinsynthese benötigten Gene durch ein kurzfristig anwesendes externes Signal aktiviert. Man muß daher annehmen, daß sie normalerweise reprimiert sind.
