Zusammenfassung
Rekombination bedeutet, daß Gene einer Kopplungsgruppe mit Genen homologer Kopplungsgruppen neu kombiniert werden. 1903 schrieb Boveri (Universität Würzburg) dazu:
„Die Tatsache, daß zwei Merkmale bei fortgesetzter Zucht immer gemeinsam auftreten oder gemeinsam verschwinden, würde mit größter Wahrscheinlichkeit den Schluß zu ziehen erlauben, daß die Anlagen für diese beiden Merkmale in dem gleichen Chromosom lokalisiert sinci. Wenn sich eine Bastardierung auf zahlreiche Merkmale erstreckt und sich bei fortgesetzter Zucht ergibt, daß die Zahl der Kombinationen, in welchen die einzelnen Merkmale verbunden sein könnten, größer ist, als der Kombinationsmöglichkeit der vorhandenen Chromosomen entspricht, so wäre daraus zu folgern, daß die in einem Chromosom lokalisierten Merkmale sich bei der Reduktionsteilung unabhängig voneinander in die eine oder die andere Tochterzelle begeben können, was auf einen Umtausch von Teilen zwischen den homologen Chromosomen hinweisen würde.“
