Zusammenfassung

Albert Bandura studierte bis 1949 an der University of British Columbia und promovierte 1952 an der State University of Iowa. Er erkannte die Notwendigkeit, den Ablauf der klinischen Verhaltensmodifikation genauer zu untersuchen. Basierend auf den Lerntheorien von Hull und Skinner und den Konzepten des Modellernens und der Imitation entwickelte er einen umfassenderen, mehr sozial orientierten Ansatz der Verhaltensmodifikation, den er soziale Lerntheorie nennt. Seine Arbeit über die Aggression zeigt besonders deutlich die Anwendung dieses Konzepts. Professor Bandura erhielt ein Guggenheim-Stipendium (1972–1973) und war Präsident der American Psychological Association (1974) und ist seit 1953 als „David Jordan Starr Professor of Social Science in Psychology“Mitglied der Fakultät der Stanford University.
