Spinal Phlebography in the Stenosis of the Lumbar Canal

  • Chapter
The Narrow Lumbar Canal

Abstract

Either in extensive or localized stenoses of the lumbar canal, there is constantly a compression of the corresponding epidural space. Therefore, spinal phlebography, which permits opacification of the epidural veins is able to provide valuable information on the extent and location of the compression of the contents of the spinal canal and permits a better understanding of this syndrome originally described by Verbiest [8].
