Social and Ecological Background of Attempted Suicides in Mannheim

Abstract

At least since the publication of Le Suicide by the French sociologist Durkheim at the end of the 19th century, suicide and attempted suicide have been recognised as a major public health problem. There is also a long history of psychiatric, sociological, epidemiological, and ecological studies into this subject.
