Mass Selective Two-Photon Ionization of a Polyatomic Molecule

Abstract

Multi-photon ionization of molecules can be observed even at moderate laser intensities if there are real states in resonance with the photon energy. The probability for this resonance enhancement is fairly large in a molecule such as benzene since the electronic states are broadened by vibrations and rotations.
