Zusammenfassung
Seit dem Nachweis, daß ein erster Kontakt eines Organismus mit bestimmten infektiös-toxischen oder ungefährlichen Substanzen zur Bildung von Antikörpern führt, die das Individuum durch Lyse, Neutralisation oder Elimination der fremden Substanz schützen, haben zahlreiche Beobachtungen gezeigt, daß immunologische Reaktionen nicht immer nur zum Wohle des Organismus beitragen; im Gegenteil, der Organismus wird sehr häufig geschädigt. Dieser für den Organismus schädliche Reaktionstyp wird allergische oder Überempfindlichkeitsreaktion genannt. Der Organismus, das Gewebe oder die Zelle, die eine Überempfindlichkeitsreaktion aufweisen können, werden als „sensibilisiert“ bezeichnet.
