Zusammenfassung

Dank intensiver Betreuung und neuer Behandlungsmethoden ist die Frühsterblichkeit bei Halsmarkgelähmten auf etwa 10%, bei Paraplegikern auf 5% (Paeslack, 1968) zurückgegangen. Da Rückenmarkverletzungen fast immer Funktionsstörungen der Blase und des Blasenauslasses verursachen, die ohne adäquate Behandlung zum Nierenversagen führen können, hängt die Lebenserwartung der Querschnittpatienten weitgehend von ihrer urologischen Betreuung ab. Sie umfaßt im wesentlichen drei Abschnitte:

  1. 1.

    die Harnentleerung während der Phase des spinalen Schockes;

  2. 2.

    die eigentliche Blasenrehabilitation, deren Ziel es ist, dem Patienten eine geeignete Form der Harnentleerung zu ermöglichen und

  3. 3.

    die Langzeitbetreuung.
